I have always had greatness in me even when I didn’t know it. I am not special or different from anyone else who is born. My upbringing did not inspire me to help people and I would say the negative outweighed the positive for the first 18 years of my life. I am 22 now and the last 4 years of my life have been dedicated to developing myself. I have focused on these three areas of growth: mental growth, physical growth and spiritual growth. I believe if you have a solid foundation in all three of these areas you are able to truly live a better life.
What changed in my life to help me from being a hopeless 18 year old who had no clue what he wanted to do with his life to someone who focuses everyday on getting better? There is one simply answer that I have for you…it is people. I got around people who didn’t want my money or my time. They wanted to see my success in life. I describe these people as my mentors in life.
Do you know what a mentor is? Click here to get the full definition. Like most of you reading this I did not know anything about mentors. I heard the word when I was in sports but it never translated into any other area of my life until I was 18. I will not go into the story too deep in this post but it is a very special thing in my life.
I was invited to a business event when I was in law enforcement school. I was nervous about going because I was told they were all super successful and made six figure incomes. After an internal battle with myself I decided I was going to skip the meeting. Well it turns out the guy who invited me wanted me to go so he stopped by to pick me up. He didn’t have much to tell me, honestly it was because he didn’t know anything himself. I learned later that he met these mentors only a few weeks before me.
When we arrived we walked into a room that truly changed my life forever. The people I met allowed me to earn there trust and started helping me in all areas of my life. It’s funny, I can sit here today and write this post and know I will be in a better place 5 years from now. This is because my mentors are guiding me not just to live life but to conquer it. It is a very comfortable way to live if you ask me.
Now, how does this post relate to you and help you in your own life? You need to identify someone or a group of people as your mentor(s). No one can succeed on their own. I have heard so many success stories and it always involves other people helping that person achieve their success. If you do not take action in finding a mentor you will most likely never succeed. It is a hard pill to swallow but it is true. It will take some time to get someone like that in your life. If you are close minded or afraid of stepping out of your comfort zone, learn to do so to help quicken your search.
Remember at the beginning of the post when I mentioned I always had greatness inside of me? Well the truth is, so do you! My mentors brought my greatness to the surface so I am able to use it everyday. They constantly encourage me and reminding me of all my great abilities. This is a connection many people never get the chance to have. Once you have someone in your life who brings the best out of you, do not let them go!
I am fortunate that I have my mentors in life. I have no clue where I would be today without them and to be honest I don’t care to think about it. I am on a journey to achieve my dreams and fulfill my vision. I want to give people the same things my mentors gave me. A positive association, motivation, vision, dreams, habits, goals, actions, hope, growth, success. This page and its sole purpose is to empower people to be the best they can be. I hope I can provide you with enough positive to dilute the negative your surrounded by each day.
If you cannot find someone who is interested in “you” and not your money or time, follow my postings and I will try my hardest to fill the gap until you do! Today is great and together we can start making each day a little more positive!
